Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026
1. Introduction
Barndominiums & Metal Buildings ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Preferred Vendor Directory at barndocontractor.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our Site, use our services, or interact with our platform. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Site.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Information You Provide Directly. When you apply as a contractor or supplier, submit a quote request, leave a review, file a complaint, or contact us through the Site, you voluntarily provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, business name, trade specialties, service areas, and project details. Contractors and suppliers also provide insurance documentation and business credentials as part of the verification process.
Information Collected Automatically. When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect certain information about your device, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages viewed. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Site, and improve the user experience.
Payment Information. Contractor and supplier membership payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or expiration date on our servers. Stripe handles all payment processing in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. We retain only Stripe customer and subscription identifiers to manage your account.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the Preferred Contractor Directory; process contractor and supplier applications and verify credentials; facilitate quote requests between homeowners and contractors; display contractor and supplier listings in our public directory; process membership payments and manage subscriptions; send notifications related to your account, including application status updates, quote requests, reviews, and renewal reminders; respond to your inquiries and feedback; monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the Site; and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. How We Share Your Information
Public Directory Listings. If you are an approved contractor or supplier, your business name, trade specialties, service areas, contact information, and reviews are displayed publicly in our directory. This is a core function of the platform and is necessary to connect homeowners with vendors.
Quote Requests. When a homeowner submits a quote request, their project details and contact information are shared with the selected contractor(s) or supplier(s) so they can respond. Homeowner information is only shared with vendors they have chosen to contact or who match their quote request criteria.
Service Providers. We use third-party services to operate the Site, including Stripe for payment processing, email delivery services for notifications, and hosting providers. These providers have access to your information only to perform their services and are obligated to protect it.
Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Contractor and supplier profiles remain in our system while their membership is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as maintaining complaint records).
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Payment information is handled exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We may also use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the Site. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Site, such as staying logged in.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; request a copy of your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
