Building Trust in theBarndominium Industry
Oklahoma Barndominiums & Metal Buildings runs a Preferred Contractor Program that connects homeowners with verified, insured contractors and suppliers in your area. Here's how we do it and why it matters.
Why We Started This Program
The barndominium and metal building industry is booming, but finding a trustworthy contractor can be overwhelming. Homeowners face a flood of options on social media and search engines with no easy way to tell who is legitimate, insured, and experienced.
We created the Preferred Contractor Program to solve that problem. Through our network of state-specific Facebook groups — each with thousands of active members — we saw firsthand the need for a reliable way to connect homeowners with vetted professionals.
Our program is not a pay-to-play directory. Every vendor goes through the same verification process regardless of their membership tier. The badge means something: this contractor or supplier has been checked, their insurance is verified, and they are part of a community that holds them accountable.
Our Verification Process
Every contractor and supplier in our directory goes through the same multi-step verification process. No shortcuts, no exceptions.
Application Review
Every contractor and supplier submits a detailed application including business name, contact information, trade specialties, service areas, and years of experience. Our team reviews each application individually — no auto-approvals.
Insurance Verification
We require proof of active general liability insurance. Our team verifies the documentation is current and valid. Contractors without proper insurance coverage are not approved into the program.
Public Records Check
We check publicly available records to verify business legitimacy. This includes confirming the business is registered and checking for any significant complaints or legal issues that would disqualify a contractor.
Approval & Badge
Once verified, the contractor or supplier receives a Preferred Contractor badge displayed on their directory listing. They are also promoted across our state-specific Facebook groups, giving them visibility to thousands of homeowners.
Ongoing Compliance
Verification is not a one-time event. We periodically re-verify insurance documentation and monitor for complaints. Vendors who fail to maintain compliance or receive unresolved complaints can have their badge suspended or revoked.
What We Stand For
These principles guide every decision we make in running the Preferred Vendor Program.
Transparency
Every contractor and supplier in our directory has been through the same verification process. We don't hide behind vague claims — we tell you exactly what we check and why.
Accountability
Our formal complaint and review system holds vendors accountable. If a contractor doesn't deliver, homeowners have a clear path to report issues and we take action.
Community
Built around state-specific Facebook groups with thousands of members, our program connects homeowners with local contractors who understand regional building codes, climate, and materials.
Protection
By requiring insurance verification and maintaining ongoing compliance checks, we add a layer of protection that homeowners don't get from a random Google search or social media recommendation.
